Every ingredient, every age band.

Where each product’s age band ends and why, the five side by side, all 105 ingredient lines with our note on each — and what is never in any of them.

Who it is for, and how they compare

Newborn to twelve — and the skin changes the whole way.

The age band for each, the same five side by side, and the way into every full ingredient list.

01

Where each age band ends, and why

+Tap a product to see why its band ends where it does

Nothing in the wash changes with age. It is mild enough for a newborn’s scalp and still enough of a wash for a twelve-year-old after a match. What changes is how much you use, not what is in it.

Light enough for infant skin, and still the right thing when a ten-year-old’s shins go dry in a Delhi winter. A child’s barrier is still maturing well past infancy, which is why we did not stop this one at three.

Rough patches do not stop at three — elbows, knees and ankles keep needing more than the rest of the body. Same cream at every age; only the amount changes.

Abhyanga is a routine most Indian families keep through the early years and let go of around the time school starts. We ended the age band where the routine ends, rather than claiming further than we can stand behind.

This one is for the nappy area and nothing else. When the nappies stop, so does the product. Using it beyond that is not harmful, it is simply not what it was formulated for.

The five, side by side

What each one is for, which Indian condition shaped it, and when you would reach for it.

Intended age varies by product — the wash, lotion and soothing cream are for 0–12 years, the massage oil for 0–5, and the rash cream for 0–3. If your baby was premature, or has a diagnosed skin condition, speak with your paediatrician before introducing any new product.

Every ingredient, in full

Each product page carries the complete list as printed on the pack — every ingredient, its role, and why it is there.

Ingredients

What is in it — and what never is

Every Tenderma formulation has two halves: the barrier and hydration ingredients it is built on, and the botanicals that enrich it. Open either half below, ask a question, or open any product for its complete printed list. We answer from our notes only — if we have not written something down, we say so.

Ceramides — the mortar between skin cells
Niacinamide — vitamin B3, barrier support
D-Panthenol — pro-vitamin B5, moisturising
Glycerine — humectant, draws water in
Zinc oxide — physical barrier
Pentavitin — saccharide isomerate, long-lasting hydration
Taurine — osmolyte, holds water under surfactant stress
Aquaxyl — xylitylglucoside, moves water through the layers
Ferment lysate — supports the skin’s own community
Allantoin — soothing, settles a rough patch
Colloidal oatmeal — milled fine, leaves a soothing film
Sodium gluconate — chelator, catches hard-water minerals
Vitamin F — linoleic and linolenic acid, lipid the wash puts back
Tocopherol — vitamin E, keeps the oils fresh
Sodium hyaluronate — low weight hydration
Betaine — osmolyte, steady between AC and heat
Zinc gluconate — soluble zinc
Glucoside surfactants — sugar-based, sulfate-free
Preservative pair — phenoxyethanol and ethylhexylglycerin, under 1%

Nineteen of the named ingredients. Ceramides and niacinamide support the barrier itself; panthenol, glycerine, hyaluronate and Aquaxyl hold water in it; taurine and betaine keep that water in the cell under a cleanser or a change of air; sodium gluconate catches the calcium in hard water and the glucosides clean without sulfates; zinc oxide sits on top of the skin in the nappy area while zinc gluconate works beneath it; colloidal oatmeal and allantoin settle a rough patch; vitamin E keeps the oils fresh and vitamin F puts back the lipid a wash takes off, the preservative pair keeps a jar safe at under 1%, and the ferment lysate leaves the skin’s own community alone. What is not drawn is the base — water, emulsifiers, thickeners, waxes and pH adjusters — and every one of those is on its product page too.

Pentavitin® performance figures quoted on this site come from the supplier’s own studies of the ingredient, not from a study of our finished product. Individual experience may vary.

SULFATES MINERAL OIL SYNTHETIC FRAGRANCE

Three things most baby ranges use and we do not. The full list of what we leave out follows, checked against every ingredient line of all five products.

SLS & SLES (sulfates)
A sulfate-free glucoside system with a chelating agent, for frequent bathing in mineral-heavy water.
Mineral oil & petrolatum
Lighter emollients, with occlusion used only where it earns its place in heat.
Synthetic fragrance
Named botanicals where a product is scented, and nothing at all in the rash cream.

If your family has allergies

These are present. We would rather you knew than found out.

Tree nut — almond
Almond oil is present in the Lotion, the Massage Oil and the Soothing Cream. If anyone in your family has a tree-nut allergy, speak to your paediatrician before using these three.
Coconut
Coconut oil is present in the Massage Oil and the Rash Protection Cream. Coconut allergy is uncommon but it does occur.
Sesame
Sesame oil is present in the Massage Oil, both directly and within the Balaaswaganthadi Thylam. Sesame allergy is recognised and rising.
Oat
Colloidal oatmeal is present in the Soothing Cream. Oats are not wheat, but cross-contact with gluten is possible during milling.
Shea
Shea butter is present in the Lotion, the Rash Protection Cream and the Soothing Cream. It comes from a tree nut, though reactions are rare.
